I was born in Wichita, KS, and raised in Tulsa, OK. I graduated from East Central High School in 1975 and immediately entered the United States Air Force as a Fireman.  While stationed at my first duty station in Blytheville AFB, AR, I met and married the former Catherine (Cathy) Hardin.

After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, I began working as a Fireman/EMT for the City of Osceola. While there, I attended night school in Jonesboro, AR, and earned my EMT Advanced (now Paramedic) certificate. I re-enlisted in the Air Force in 1982 in the Law Enforcement career field and was assigned to McConnell AFB, Wichita, KS; Florennes AB, Belgium; Fairchild AFB, Spokane, WA; Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal; and Little Rock AFB, Jacksonville, AR.

While stationed at Little Rock AFB, I cross-trained in the Paralegal career field, and I also began volunteering at the Ward Fire Department. During my time there, I revamped forms used to report the department’s responses to line up with the state’s reporting system, which are still used today.

After working in the base’s legal office for several years, I was assigned as the Command Paralegal Manager for Headquarters, US European Command in Stuttgart, Germany where I served until I retired as a Master Sergeant after 22 years of service.

My family and I then returned to Ward, Arkansas where I began working as the Client Relations Manager and Paralegal for Cauley, Geller, Bowman & Coats Law Firm in Little Rock.  While there, I helped design and implement a filing system that is still in use today at several law firms. I also continued to volunteer as a Ward Fireman and began volunteering as a member of the city’s Planning Commission until I was elected to the Ward City Council in 2002, where I served for 13 years.  In 2003, I joined Emerson Poynter Law Firm and was their Director of Administration and Senior Paralegal until the firm dissolved in 2015. In late 2015 I was hired as the city's Deputy Operations Director and continued to serve in that position until I resigned to run for Mayor.

In December 2018, after a runoff election, I was elected Mayor of the City of Ward, Arkansas, and continue to serve in that position.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from John Brown University.  I am also a Nationally Certified Public Manager from the Arkansas Public Administration Consortium.

Cathy and I have been married for 44 years and have three grown children and six grandchildren.

In addition to being mayor, I hold the following positions:

Executive Committee Member – Arkansas Municipal League
Board Member – Metroplan
Board Member – Lonoke White Public Water Authority
Board Member – Central Arkansas Planning and Development District Solid Waste Management
Board Member – Central Arkansas Development Council
Board Member – Ward Chamber of Commerce
Advisory Council Member – AR Certified Public Manager Program
Member – Little Rock AFB Community Council
Member – Criswell-Robinson American Legion Post 71, Cabot
