Mayor Charles Gastineau

The past three-plus years have been a blessing and a whirlwind when it comes to overseeing Ward’s progress and challenges.  I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing how, with the right leadership and support, a small but growing town can really come and work together to build a better present and future for itself.

During my first term as mayor, some of our major accomplishments have been, but are not limited to, upgrading technology systems for security and communications; upgrading first responder equipment, technology, procedures, and vehicles; updating development and growth plans for streets, water/wastewater, incoming businesses, and more; creating new incentives for employees; providing more opportunities for community involvement; continuing to better Water/Wastewater functions; and much more.

As with any leadership position, challenges are expected right alongside accomplishments. The person who holds such a position must be able to withstand an array of ongoing and sudden challenges. For instance, I was sworn into office with all, but one, new city council members. Soon after, I had to fill two major positions, the Fire Chief and Water/Wastewater Superintendent, as the predecessors had planned retirements. Then, within months of my first year as mayor, the pandemic hit in full force. Regardless, a good leader faces the good, bad, and ugly with strength and determination to come out better and stronger than ever. With my team, the city council, and the community, I feel that we have done an exceptional job working together for the betterment of Ward. We’ve also kept some of the things that were implemented during the peak of COVID, such as broadcasting our city council meetings on our YouTube channel, so the community can stay informed and included in city decisions. We also, regularly, post to our social media of any announcements, meetings, accomplishments, etc. Both of which have helped us be transparent with the community, one of the many things I strive to do as Mayor.

Good leaders also surround themselves with determined, trained and educated, and proactive staff. I have ensured that our Department Heads and Office Managers are just that, and I am incredibly thankful to the team of city employees, city council members, and the community that has supported, not only the city business-wise, but me, personally, through the last few years. I could not do this job without them.

The City of Ward has come a long way, and I am eager to see where it goes from here. With growth comes opportunity, and we are definitely growing. But, on the other hand, with growth and opportunity, there come growing pains and complications. Ward needs a mayor that not only works hard for the present but proactively prepares the city for the future. With YOUR help, I plan to keep doing what I can to “Move Ward ForWard”, focusing on today, tomorrow, and the days to come in each decision that is made.

Now, the time has come for you to do YOUR part to better our community. How? Do your research! Ask questions! Get clarification!  Get involved! YOUR vote matters! YOUR voice matters! Regardless of how you vote, please be sure to cast your vote this November.

That being said, I would greatly appreciate it if you would consider voting for me as your Ward Mayor.

Please peruse the rest of this website to learn more about my personal life, education, and experience; my accomplishments; my commitments; my visions; and more.

As always, please reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, comments, or want to learn more about how you can help support my campaign.
